Beyond The Frame
Nowra Changemakers, 2025
Our 2025 Nowra Changemakers had identified the lack of connections between people within their communities, beyond our social media (face to face connection). The Changemakers wanted to create a project that made a positive impact on genuine connection in a fun and engaging way, which is where Beyond The Frame was created.
A few boxes were made, with each box having a disposable camera, conversation prompts, instructions for how to pass the box on, pens, a notebook and a QR code where they could write about the moment behind the photo. Our Changemakers started with a box, then found a friend, asked them a question, listened to what they had to say and snapped a photo of the moment together. They then passed the box on to that person, creating a ripple effect to see how far the box moved along in the community.
The boxes were used as a conversation starter, and the idea behind the cameras was to capture the moment, to hold the stories shared and connections made. Did you come across a box? Did you snap a photo? Check out the digital gallery below, where all of the photos taken can be found!

“I’d say you’re doing well and that most of the things you need are already around you. I’d also tell myself to stick to my instincts and continue to go with the flow.” - Sid (pictured right).
